Sandy Mendelson, longtime Dayton businessman, passes away

DAYTON — Sandy Mendelson, a longtime downtown Dayton businessman, died Saturday morning.

Mendelson’s daughter confirmed with News Center 7 that he passed away in his sleep at his home just five days shy of his 78th birthday.

Mendelson closed his iconic eight-story liquidation business on East First Street last year after 55 years of business.

His family had been buying and selling surplus items in the Dayton area for more than five decades.

Mendelson was 77-years-old.
