TIPP CITY — Three ice fishermen were rescued after two of them fell through ice on a pond at Kyle Park in Tipp City this morning.

“Two males had broken through the ice and were in the water. One person remained on top of the ice and could not move due to thin ice,” Tipp City Fire & EMS said.

Rescue crews were dispatched to the park near South First Street around 10:50 a.m. on reports of a water rescue, according to initial reports.

It took rescue crews eight minute to pull both men who fell through the ice to safety. The third victim was brought to shore within 11 minutes, but was never in the water.

The two victims who were in the water were taken to the hospital for evaluation, but were in stable condition.

The city’s fire chief Cameron Haller said people should be staying off any ice as the freeze-thaw cycle significantly reduces the integrity of the ice.
