Police: 3 suspected of Hara Arena break-in may have been scrapping metal

UPDATE @ 7 p.m. (Feb. 26): Police said the three people arrested and taken to jail Monday in the suspected Hara Arena break-in appeared to be scrapping metal when electrical contractors discovered them in the facility.

Two of the three were detained almost immediately by police. The third person ran to another area of the building, but was located by a Perry Twp. officer and his K-9 partner and surrendered.

Trotwood police will be presenting the case to the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office for formal charges of breaking and entering, according to a statement released Tuesday evening.

Police have not released the names or ages of the accused.

The police department is urging anyone who sees suspicious activity, especially at vacant properties, to call 9-1-1 immediately or call regional dispatch at 937-225-4357.

Three people were taken into custody after they broke onto the Hara Arena property Monday, according to police.

Police were dispatched to Hara Arena around 11:30 a.m. after receiving reports of multiple people trespassing on the property, according to dispatch records.

Up to three people were reportedly taken into custody before 12:30 p.m., according to police. Officers searched parts of the property for another person who might have been with the other three, initial reports indicate.

A ladder truck from the Trotwood Fire Department also responded and helped police search the roof of the building.

Officers left the scene around 1:15 p.m. and additional details were not provided.
