Man arrested after fleeing traffic stop; counterfeit cash, gun recovered

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 3:10 p.m.: 

A man arrested after fleeing a traffic stop and prompting a call for countywide officer assistance has been identified as 36-year-old Robert M. Keough, according to a Dayton police incident report.

Keough was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on preliminary charges of counterfeiting, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons while under disability, and possession of drugs, according to online jail records.

UPDATE @ 10:45 a.m.:

Police recovered a gun, counterfeit cash, and drugs after arresting a man who fled from a traffic stop in Dayton Tuesday morning, according to investigators.

The incident started when a Dayton police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of North Main Street and Ernst Avenue around 8:45 a.m.

Investigators said the suspect, only identified as a man, pushed away from the officer and ran from the stop. A countywide request for officer assistance was made after the officer saw a gun, according to initial reports.

The man was hit with a Taser and taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

After the man was taken into custody, police located $1,000 in counterfeit cash, drugs, and a gun, investigators said.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, according to police.

A Dayton police officer requested countywide officer assistance after a suspect reportedly fled from a traffic stop, according to police scanner traffic.

An officer reported a traffic stop in the area of North Main Street and Ernst Avenue around 8:45 a.m., according to initial reports.

One person reportedly fled from the officer and was carrying a weapon, police scanner traffic indicates.

The officer requested a “signal 99” for countywide officer assistance until the suspect was taken into custody, per initial reports.

A medic unit was requested after the suspect was hit with a Taser, according to scanner traffic.

The request for officer assistance was cancelled after the suspect was taken into custody.
