Names of deceased, critically injured victims released following head-on crash in Clark County

CLARK COUNTY — UPDATE @ 9:30 p.m.

The names of those involved in the crash that killed one and critically injured another on Troy Road have been released.

Nicholas P. Niedbalski, 32, of Springfield, was the passenger of the vehicle hit head-on and was pronounced dead on scene.

Danielle Dukes-Niedbalski, 34, of Springfield, was the driver of the vehicle hit head-on and was transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Zachary A. Payton, 30, of Springfield was travelling southbound on Troy Road when he drove left of center to avoid hitting a vehicle in the rear.

Payton then struck the southbound vehicle of Dukes-Niedbalski and Niedbalski. He was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The Springfield Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by German Township Police Department and German Township Fire and EMS.

The crash remains under investigation. The Springfield Post reminds motorists to buckle-up and continue to combat distracted driving.

UPDATE @ 5:50 p.m.

One person has been pronounced dead and another is in critical condition, according to German Twp. Fire/EMS.

Officials on scene report the crash occurred when a truck travelling northbound swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle and traveled into the southbound lane, hitting a different vehicle head-on.

The driver of the car hit head-on was pronounced dead on scene and their passenger was taken by CareFlight.

The driver of the truck’s injuries are currently unknown.

Initial reports indicate a person was trapped inside their vehicle.
