DAYTON — As tensions continue to rise in Ukraine, community members in Dayton came out to show their support.
More than 80 people gathered at Courthouse Square, showing solidarity with Ukraine.
There were people of all kinds of cultural backgrounds, including several Ukrainians and Russians.
They held signs saying things like “Stop the War” and expressed their distaste for Putin’s actions.

Others simply prayed for all the lives that have been impacted by the attacks.
“Everyone does what they can. They’ve got to fight for every inch of our land,” Anastasia Nagle, organizer of the rally told News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott.
Nagle is from Ukraine herself and worries for her family and friends.
“Everyone’s ready to defeat the evil,” Nagle added.
Her family in Ukraine is currently in a bomb shelter and her cousin is enlisted to help defend against Russia.

Cities across Ohio have spoken up for a country more than 5,000 miles away.
Rallies have been held in Loveland, Yellow Springs and even at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
As of Sunday, Russian troops have entered Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine.
But similar to the spirit shown at rallies across the state, Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers are ready to fight for their land.
