Police: Man shot in Huber Heights while he and friends were cleaning guns

UPDATE @ 8:30 p.m.: One man has been taken to a hospital after he was wounded in what Huber Heights police are investigating as an accidental shooting.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim and his friends had just returned to the residence on Pegwood Court from a shooting range and were unloading and cleaning their guns when one of the weapons discharged.

The victim was hit at least once in the buttocks, police said.

One of the officers said the investigation is continuing.

INITIAL REPORT

Police have been dispatched on a report of an accidental shooting at a residence in the 6600 block of Pegwood Court in Huber Heights.

The incident was reported just before 5:30 p.m.

A Huber Heights Police Division dispatcher said she could only confirm the incident and could not release any other details.
