Police: Man, woman OD in truck with infant inside on I-75 South in Moraine

A man and woman will be charged criminally, once they are released from a hospital, for overdosing on drugs in their pickup truck with their infant daughter in the backseat Thursday just off Interstate 75 South in Moraine.

The man and woman, believed to be in their 30s, are originally from Dayton but had come back to buy drugs, Moraine police Sgt. Chris Selby said.

There were Florida plates on their truck, which police have impounded.

While on I-75 South as they were leaving Dayton, they decided to ingest the drugs they copped, the sergeant said.

So, the man pulled off the interstate about 5 p.m. and parked on the shoulder near the Heidelberg Distributing facility in Moraine. He and the woman ingested what police think was either heroin or fentanyl, the sergeant said.

The drugs left the adults unconscious.

Their 3-month-old daughter was not harmed, Sgt. Selby said.

Police released the child to a family member believed to be from Dayton. The Moraine Police Department will involve Montgomery County Children Services because of the incident, Selby said.

The man and woman were taken to Kettering Medical Center for treatment. They are likely to be charged with several offenses, the sergeant said, including drug possession, possession of drug abuse instruments, inducing panic, OVI for the driver, and child endangering.

Selby said the scene caused a backup on the interstate, which included some accidents.
