Police investigate reports of shooting on westside of Dayton

DAYTON — Police are investigating reports of a shooting in Dayton Sunday afternoon, a Montgomery County dispatch supervisor confirmed.

Around 2 p.m., Dayton police officers and medics were dispatched to the 100 block of Cambridge Avenue on reports of a shooting.

The dispatcher said multiple crews responded to the scene. Initial reports indicate crews on scene requested a K-9 unit to help search the area.

A 911 caller told dispatchers that multiple people were on Cambridge Avenue “having a shootout.”

It is unclear if anyone was hurt in this shooting.

The caller told dispatchers that one person fell to the ground, but it was unclear if they had been shot.

The people accused of firing shots ran away from the scene, the caller said.

Jail records indicate that a man was arrested in the 500 block of Salem Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. He faces preliminary charges of felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premise(s).
