Pandemic forces Hamvention cancellation for second year in a row

XENIA — Setbacks in the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic have caused the cancellation of this year’s Dayton Hamvention, the executive committee announced today.

This is the second year in a row that the pandemic has caused the cancellation of the world’s largest amateur radio gathering.

The committee attributed the cancellation to the vaccination rollout that is “lagging behind what was planned.” The emergence of a new, more communicable strain of the coronavirus, which increases the potential for additional public health problems, was also noted as a reason to cancel the event.

Tickets that were deferred last year will be deferred again this year.
