The North Pacific High is generally between Hawaii and the California coast in the middle of the northern Pacific Ocean.

Recent changes in large scale weather patterns have caused the North Pacific High to shift to the northeast, closer to the West Coast. Due to air rotating clockwise around the high, lower than normal temperatures are forced from the arctic into our backyards.
