Results released for OVI checkpoint Greene County

XENIA — State troopers and other agencies operated a sobriety checkpoint in Greene County Friday night.

State troopers, Greene County deputies, and Beavercreek police held the checkpoint from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Colonel Glenn Highway.

There were 236 vehicles that went through the checkpoint, the police department said.

One driver without a license was issued a citation. They were also cited for driving in marked lanes and disobeying a traffic control device.

“Based on provisional data, there were 13,103 OVI-related fatal crashes in which 637 people were killed last year in Ohio,“ Lt. Robert D. Hilderbrandt Jr., commander of the Xenia Post, said.

“State troopers make on average 25,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”
