K-9 Club fatal shooting latest in string of shooting incidents

JEFFERSON TWP. — The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the man fatally shot early Sunday morning at the K-9 Club.

Bobby Avery, 67, of Dayton was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital after he was shot at the club at 5100 Germantown Pike in Jefferson Twp. around 2 a.m.

According to a release, a large fight occurred and several people with handguns began shooting at each other.

The people who fired shots fled the club in two vehicles down Germantown Pike and into Dayton where they exchanged more gunfire, deputies said.

Deputies have responded to the club 14 times since 2016 regarding shots fired, according to authorities.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are investigating the incident.
