WARREN COUNTY — The threat of a new tax has lead the Ohio Renaissance Festival to move to detach from the Village of Harveysburg.
In a statement on their website, festival officials announced they had filed a complaint to detach from the village in Warren County.

“This basically means that the festival property, Renaissance Park, would not be ‘in’ the Village of Harveysburg but in Massie Township,” the statement read.
Noted as the “most impactful” reason, officials claimed that the village was threatening to impose a entertainment tax on tickets. The tax could raise ticket prices by as much as $2.
“This is not in the best interest of our customers, which is most important. The idea is very disappointing to us after many years of financial contributions and goodwill efforts to the community,” officials stated.

Officials also said the by aligning with the township, they could finally put in a turn lane into the park heading westbound on State Route 73 form I-71.
Festival officials are encouraging anyone who wants to send their feedback to do so in a few ways, including attending council meetings. The next council meeting is tonight at 7 p.m.
