Oakwood — Oakwood Middle School and High School were part of a routine drug and explosives sweep Thursday afternoon according to Superintendent Dr. Kyle Ramey.

Today's search was a preventative measure and not in response to any specific issue. No drugs or explosives were found during the sweep and today was the first sweep planned this year at Oakwood Schools.

Oakwood Schools has partnered with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Oakwood Safety Department to add routine trained dog sweeps to the school safety program.
Ramey says such sweeps are considered best practice in education, and that they believe in using the tools and resources available to keep students and staff safe.
