FAIRBORN — Wright State University, Fairborn and the YMCA of Greater Dayton are exploring the idea of building a new YMCA facility on the university’s campus along Colonel Glenn Highway.
The new location would be built on undeveloped university property and would replace the existing Fairborn YMCA on South Central Avenue.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to explore enhancing our campus experience and partner with two great organizations,” said Wright State President Sue Edwards
The current Fairborn YMCA has gym equipment, an indoor pool, basketball courts and offers various group activities. A new facility would continue to serve the Fairborn community, while also providing services to WSU students, faculty, staff and their families, the university said.
“We are thrilled to partner with Wright State University and the Dayton YMCA to explore building a new facility in Fairborn that will benefit the community at large, while also enhancing the landscape along Colonel Glenn Highway,” said Fairborn City Manager Rob Anderson.
The current YMCA in Fairborn serves over 6,500 families.
The three partners are now working on specifics about the project, including financing options and design plans.
