CENTERVILLE — A new logo for “Uptown,” the heart of Centerville housing nearly 100 businesses, was released Friday.

In 2019 the city of Centerville created an action plan to revitalize the center of the town, also known as Uptown.

Uptown is the area that stretches along Main Street from Alex Bell Road to south of Franklin Street and encompasses the Architectural Preservation District at State Route 48 and Franklin Street.

When the action plan was created, the town held focus groups of more than a dozen stakeholders representing businesses, residents, government partners and community groups, to organize the best plan for all community members.

Brian Wilson, owner of Wilson Advertising in Uptown, is the designer of the logo.

For inspiration, he looked to the spirit and organic nature of the surrounding environment from the current streetscape of natural colors, architectural style and color schemes, even down to the stones and brick pavers that line our corridors, city officials stated in a media release.

“The color scheme is comprised of tones that borrow from the existing historical color palette approved for use in the Architectural Preservation District. Together, they complement the city of Centerville’s classic blue tone,” Wilson said.

The shapes at the left of the logo are meant to reflect Centerville’s connected community.

The shapes are individual colors, shapes and sizes to remind the city of its heritage, foundation and commitment to community.
