COLUMBUS — Governor DeWine has recently signed a new law that allows restaurants, bars, and other food vendors more opportunities to make revenue.
The Business Expansion and Safety Act will allow the following:
- The “carry-out" drinks allowance will now be set in as permanent law by the Ohio Liquor Control Commission.
- Third-party delivery for carryout alcohol for those over the age of 21 will now be available.
- Specific permit holders must sell a meal with alcoholic to-go drinks, and it prohibits qualified permit holders from selling more than three drinks per meal.
- Businesses will now be allowed to utilize more outside space on private or public property while serving customers.
- Sunset provisions within the bill relating to sales area expansion on December 21, 2022 and requires permit holders to notify DOLC and DPS of permit expansion ten days prior, instead of one
According to the release, the bill has received support from several groups including the Ohio Restaurant Association, Ohio Licensed Beverage Association, the Greater Ohio Policy Center the Buckeye Institution, and others.
