DAYTON — A new historic plane is set to be arriving at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force today.
The KC-135R Stratotanker is set to be landing around 9:30 a.m., according to the museum’s Facebook page.

Free public shuttles will be running to allow guests to set the aircraft on display from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
“In 1967, the crew of this aircraft conducted an unprecedented combat tri-level refueling mission over the Gulf of Tonkin when multiple U.S. Navy aircraft running dangerously low on fuel arrived at their location,” according to a press release from the museum.
The aircraft provided the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force and has excelled in this role for more than 60 years.
The Stratotanker will be added as part of the museum’s permanent collection and is scheduled to go on permanent display in the museum’s Air Park beginning in July.
The event is weather dependent.
