NEAR JACKSONBURG, Preble County — UPDATE @ 12:10 p.m. (April 13):
The two drivers killed in a head-on collision Friday night on Ohio 122 near Shul Road have been identified.
Brian Logan, 37, of Camden, was north on OH 122 when his 2007 Jeep Liberty went left of center and struck a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Steven Fore, 69, of New Paris, traveling south. Both drivers were killed from the crash.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, Shirley Fore, 70, was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital for serious injuries.
The crash is currently under investigation.
UPDATE @ 10:13 p.m.: A head-on collision on Ohio 122 near Schul Road has left both drivers dead, said Sgt. Dallas Root, Dayton Post, Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A passenger from one of the cars has been taken to a hospital via CareFlight. Root said he believes that passenger was a female. Her condition is not known.
Both of the deceased were males.
Root said the state patrol has no information right now as to how the crash occurred or who was at fault. There is no evidence drugs or alcohol were factors, he said, but the state patrol will never rule out those possibilities.
A Montgomery County Coroner’s Investigator is on scene. Both victims will be taken to the coroner’s office.
Troopers said the wreckage is so severe it looks like a bomb went off. The collision left both cars on opposite sides of the road. The vehicles believed to have been involved are a Jeep and an SUV.
“I can only feel for the families in this,” Root said. “It’s tragic. It’s hard to lose one. It’s two too many.”
Ohio 122 will be closed in both directions at Schul Road until further notice. The state patrol has sent for its traffic crash reconstruction team.
