Downed transmission line causes thousands to be without power in the Miami Valley

MIAMI VALLEY — Thousands of people were without power in the Miami Valley Tuesday afternoon.

Outages begin being reported at 9:00 p.m.., at its peak, over 3,700 AES Ohio customers reported not having power, according to the AES Outage Map.

The majority of outages were reported in Montgomery County.

Mary Ann Kabel, director of corporate communications at AES Ohio said the outage was due to a transmission line issue at their Northridge substation.

As of 2:00 a.m., Wednesday, power has been restored to AES customers.
