News Center 7′s Xavier Hershovitz has spent the past few days in Atlanta taking in all the festivities ahead of the big game. While he’s been down there, he’s run into Ohio State fans from the Miami Valley who were excited to be there for the game.
“I grew up watching Ohio State football, so it’s just kind of in my bloodline, I guess,” Ava McCoy, an Ohio State student from Troy, said. “So I just knew I had to be a Buckeye.”

McCoy was one of the lucky students able to snag a ticket to the game inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
“There was like over 5,000 ticket requests and only like 500 of them got fulfilled, and I was one of them. So yeah, it’s really lucky!” she said.
Other Buckeye fans told News Center 7 that they feel lucky to just be here and experience this.
Mary Haun, a 90-year-old Buckeye fan from Fairborn, has been in Atlanta visiting her daughter, Judy Anderson.
“I moved down here years ago, and all my SEC friends said Ohio State’s not anything. But hey, we did it. How many times we did the first national championship in the brackets? And now we’re going to do this one too,” Anderson said.
Fans like Haun made the trip to see one thing.
“The Buckeye have to win, I hope,” Haun said.
Their Buckeyes could take home the trophy tonight but before they even take the field, the fans are making memories to last a lifetime.
“This is such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I’m very blessed with the opportunity,” McCoy said. “And it means a lot to me that I get to be here.”
