4 injured after crash between car, trash truck in Champaign County

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — UPDATE @ 9:40 a.m.: 

Four people were injured in a crash between a car and a trash truck on 9 Mile Road in Champaign County Monday morning, according to deputies.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of 9 Mile and Calland roads around 7:50 a.m.

Investigators said a car traveling west on 9 Mile Road ran a stop sign and crashed into the trash truck, traveling north on Calland Road.

Two occupants of the car were transported by medical helicopter to an area hospital with serious injuries, deputies said.

Two occupants of the trash truck were taken by a ground ambulance to an Urbana hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to officials.

The crash remains under investigation by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

A CareFlight medical helicopter has been requested to a crash reported on 9 Mile Road in Champaign County Monday morning.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of 9 Mile Road and Calland Road around 7:50 a.m. after the crash was reported.

Initial reports indicate there were multiple injuries, but the severity of the injuries was not immediately known.
