DAYTON — A man was taken into custody in the Mad River after attempting to run from deputies and police in Dayton, according to investigators.
The man, who was not identified, attempted to flee from deputies in a car in Harrison Twp. around 9 a.m., according to emergency scanner traffic.
Deputies and police caught up to the vehicle after it exited in the area of I-75 ramp to Webster Street and state Route 4, investigators said.
The man abandoned the car at the Webster Street ramp and ran south until he reached the Mad River. Shortly after making it into the river deputies and police were able to take him into custody, officials said.
The car the man was driving might have been stolen but deputies are still investigating that claim.
