MIDDLETOWN — A man was seriously hurt in a reported explosion in Middletown Monday evening on Fleming Road.

Middletown officials said Tuesday the explosion was a result of “an accumulation of natural gas” inside the home prior to the explosion.

The man was taken to Atrium Medical Center, then taken to Miami Valley Hospital by a medical helicopter, according to our news partners at WCPO-TV. An update on his condition was not available Tuesday.

Caution tape and safety cones were placed around the house while fire crews investigated the explosion. A third-story window was blown out on the other side of the house and smoke could be seen coming from the house after the explosion.
