Man accused of assaulting officers, threatening to kill them in Xenia Police parking lot

XENIA — A man with a criminal history dating back to at least 2010 is facing multiple felony charges after Xenia police said he assaulted and threatened officers in the Xenia Police parking lot last week.

Joshua D. Jones, 30, is now charged with four counts of felonious assault and a single count of felony obstructing official business.

Xenia police said they were approached by Jones while he was naked Friday night.

“Jones’ behavior was erratic and he appeared unable to care for himself,” said Xenia Police Capt. Steve Lane. “Officers determined Jones needed to be transported to the hospital for an evaluation. Jones kicked several officers and threatened to kill them as they attempted to help him.”

A Xenia incident report shows police had to use a Taser during the incident, which happened around 9:50 p.m.

A review of previous charges against Jones dating back to 2010 showed he’d been convicted on drug charges and obstructing official business before.

Jones is currently being held in the Greene County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
