Of all the interesting weather that occurred across the Miami Valley in 2016, one of the busiest days occurred early in the year.
During the early afternoon of March 14, 2016, the weather became quite active across the Miami Valley. A compact but intense area of low pressure moved across the area and combined with the heating of the day and abundant moisture to produce severe storms.
Within about three hours, five tornadoes touched down to the west and northwest of the Dayton metro area. Two of the tornadoes were rated EF-1 by the National Weather Service with wind speeds estimated in excess of 100 mph. Amazingly, there were no fatalities or injuries that day.
