MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Judge Anthony Capizzi, longtime Judge in the Juvenile Division of the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, says he will retire at the end of 2022.
In a statement, Capizzi said that after serving as Judge for 18 years, he will not seek a fourth term.

“I am pleased to have led a number of transformative changes that have been made to better the quality of life for juveniles and families in Montgomery County,” Capizzi wrote.
Prior to being elected Juvenile Court Judge in 2004, Capizzi served as a Dayton City Commissioner from 1988 to 2000.
In a statement announcing his retirement, Capizzi said he looks forward to the final year of his term, in which he will continue his “efforts to protect the rights and improve the experiences of all citizens who come to Juvenile Court.”

Capizzi thanked the court staff, Montgomery County Democratic Party, Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Bench, as well as his family in his announcement.
“It is time to retire and pass the torch on to a new judge, who will work for justice and equality, with the goal of protecting and enhancing the lives of the children and families that Juvenile Court serves, as I have labored so hard to do for the past 18 years,” Capizzi wrote.
