Yates was killed July 24 after a suspect shot him while he was responding to reports of gunfire at a mobile home park near South Charleston.

Tecumseh Strong, a non-profit organization, started selling t-shirts in honor of Yates on July 25, according to a post on its Facebook page.

The proceeds from those t-shirts sales of $4,500 were given to Mrs. Yates, along with her daughter during halftime of Friday night’s high school football game against Fairborn, Tecumseh School Superintendent Paula Crew told News Center 7.

Deputy John Looney, the School Resource Officer, was good a friend of Deputy Yates and both their fathers served in the Clark County Sheriff’s Department together, Crew said.

Tecumseh won their first high school football game of the season against Fairborn, 48-13.
