Local recovery home gives back to community with litter cleanup

DAYTON — A local recovery home spent hours Saturday cleaning up their community as a way to give back.

House of Restoration Community Solutions is located in Dayton and open to both men and women.

“We want to break the stigma, people do recover and give back,” Tewanna Hawkins, chief executive officer of HOR Community Solutions said.

Hawkins said the recovery home is in partnership with Dayton and Montgomery County Public Health as well as Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services.

“We have always participated in other community clean-ups and decided to straighten up our own neighborhood,” Hawkins said in an email.

Saturday afternoon the HOR Community Solutions partnered with Miami Valley Golf to help clean up the course.

Hawkins said she hopes to continue working with the golf course and other local businesses.
