Local nurse and Army veteran has belongings auctioned off by storage unit

A Trotwood nurse and Army veteran’s worst nightmare came true after finding out that her personal belongings that were being kept in a storage unit are now lost.

Last week, Heather Jackson-Chapman came to the realization that TurnKey Storage on Salem Avenue in Trotwood auctioned off her valuable and irreplaceable belongings on November 19th.

“My military awards, 27 years in the army, never had a break in service, all of my certificates accolades uniforms, my gear that I had saved up, my children’s first year milestone books, each one of them- gone,” Jackson-Chapman said.

Other items that are gone also include framed family pictures, a china set, and childhood toys.

Jackson-Chapman said she was paying over 100 dollars a month for the storage unit, but admitted to missing a few payments due to being unaware that her debit-card expired.

She stated that the storage unit said they attempted to mail her notifications but she never received them.

“They have our phone numbers, they didn’t call us,” Jackson-Chapman said.

Jackson-Chapman states she learned a valuable lesson, which is to verify that information is kept up-to-date all the time.

She still hopes to get some of her and her family’s most precious belongings back, even if it means buying them back.

“Those items could not mean anything to you but they mean everything to me. I will buy them back. That’s how much they mean to me. I don’t care how much, I will buy them back,” Jackson-Chapman said.
