MIAMI COUNTY — A local county is offering free farm pesticide disposal on Monday.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) is sponsoring a collection event for farmers to dispose of unwanted pesticides in Miami County, according to a spokesperson.

The collection will take place on Monday, Aug. 24, at the Miami County Fairgrounds, at the North Gate, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The pesticide collection and disposal service is free, but only farm chemicals will be accepted.
Paint, antifreeze, solvents, and household or non-farm pesticides will not be accepted.
These collections help farmers safely dispose of pesticides that can be harmful to people and the environment if improperly discarded.
Placing pesticides in trash bins is illegal and can be harmful to humans, animals, and Ohio’s waterways.
The pesticide collections are sponsored by ODA in conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. To pre-register, or for more information, contact the Ohio Department of Agriculture at (614) 728-6987.
