Suspect in Middletown fatal shooting taken into custody; victim identified

MIDDLETOWN — UPDATE @ 11 a.m.:

Jason Halcomb, accused of shooting and killing a man in Middletown, was found and taken into custody Saturday morning.

William Ray Riley, 28, was killed after he tried to defend a female when Halcomb stole from her in the 400 block of Curtis Street Friday.

The murder weapon was recovered when investigators located and arrested Halcomb.

INITIAL REPORT:

The Middletown Police Department is searching for Jason Halcomb, 40, who is accused of fatally shooting another man in the 400 block of Curtis Street Friday around 9 p.m.

Investigators say they found a group of homeless people that were in the area and learned that Halcomb stole property from a female then shot and killed a man who came to her defense.

Police arrived on scene to find the victim with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, according to a press release.

Halcomb is a white male who is about 6-feet tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans.

Police say Halcomb is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Investigators ask anyone who has seen him to call 911 and anyone with information to call Detective Hoover at 513-425-7796.
