Investigation into video depicting animal cruelty transferred to ‘outside agency’, police say

KETTERING — Kettering Police Department has given an update after a video circulating on social media showed a woman allegedly killing a dog.

News Center 7 previously reported the video began circulating on a local Facebook page on Saturday, Oct 14, and Kettering police opened an investigation shortly after.

On Monday, police said on social media that the case has been transferred to an “outside agency” and is currently being investigated by multiple agencies.

The post did not name these agencies.

In the video, a woman is seen threatening to hit a dog in a crate, several times.

Later in that video, the dog appears to be dead in a trash bag.

Police believe this video could be dated back to March 2023, but it is just known as making its way around social media.

As of Oct. 16, no charges have been filed, but someone could face misdemeanors, police said.
