JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — A house fire is under investigation in Montgomery County.

The fire was reported around 9:12 a.m. on Maeder Avenue in Jefferson Twp., Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirmed.

Jefferson Twp. Fire Chief Gregory Wilcox said when he arrived at the scene, flames were coming from the front door and windows.
Despite the fire hydrant across the street failing, crews were able to quickly put the fire out.
Wilcox said one firefighter partially fell through the floor while inside, but did not need to be taken to the hospital.
Another firefighter went down outside the house, but did not require medical attention.
Neighbors told firefighters that the person who lived at the home had recently died.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
