Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire on the back patio and spreading to the attic.
Huber Heights Fire Department Battalion Chief Robert Williams said no one was injured in the fire and only one person was believed to be home when it happened.
“It’s not looking like they’re going to be able to return. We’re working with the insurance company and possibly the Red Cross here to get some assistance,” Williams said.
News Center 7’s Malik Patterson talked to Vaughn Gibson, who smelled smoke while he was outside doing yard work.
“Seeing black smoke coming out of the third house on the left-hand side, and ran down there and called 911,” Gibson said. “I wouldn’t say it was scary. (Part) of my natural reaction was to get down there and help and see what I can do to get people out of the house.”
The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
