Sugarcreek Township Police confirmed Lower Bellbrook Road was closed near Sackett-Wright Park earlier Friday due to high water but has since reopened.

Greene County dispatch confirmed Factory Road at Shakertown Road near US-35 is also closed due to high water.

In Centerville, the righthand eastbound lane of Alex Bell Road is closed from Cedarleaf Drive to Fallen Oak Trace.

“The area cannot handle the amount of rain that has fallen with more on the way,” a social media post from the City of Centerville said. “We will continue to make improvements to the area as weather permits.”

News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott spoke with the Ohio Department of Transportation on Friday and asked if there is a plan to monitor the roads overnight.

They said crews are going to be keep an eye on roads and will close certain areas if they need to do.

McDermott says ODOT’s main concern is if they close a road, drivers need to take that closure seriously and not try to drive through the water since it is very easy for a vehicle to be swept away or even stall and stop.

“Turn around, don’t drown,” the Greene County Engineering Department said in a statement Friday. “If you see barricades for road closure, do not drive around them and do not move them. Give yourself enough time to evaluate conditions of the road and react appropriately.”

They also encourage people to find an alternative route and keep yourself and others safe.
