Dayton investigators looking for cause of fire in vacant two-story duplex

UPDATE @ 12:40 a.m. (July 28): Dayton District Chief Adam Landis said his investigators will determine whether the fire that caused heavy damage to the rear of the first and second floors of a vacant duplex in the 1800 block of East Fifth Street is suspicious.

Landis said there was no electric service to the house.

He estimated the damage at $15,000 to $20,000.

UPDATE @ 11:30 p.m. (July 27):

The fire is now out, according to News Center 7's Sean Cudahy.
According to scanner traffic, fire crews are investigating the cause and no injuries were reported.

FIRST REPORT:

We are hearing reports of a heavy fire in a two-story wood-frame structure in the 1800 block of East Fifth Street.

The incident was reported just before 11:00 p.m., per initial reports.
