Funeral procession to take place for area airman killed during Operation Epic Fury

WILMINGTON — A funeral procession for an area airman who was killed in the Middle East during Operation Epic Fury will take place on Friday.

As previously reported, Captain Curtis Angst was one of six people who died when their air refueling tanker crashed in Iraq.

A motorcade brought Captain Angst’s body back home to Wilmington over the weekend.

On Friday morning, a funeral procession for Captain Angst will make its way through Wilmington, according to the police department.

It will begin at 9:15 a.m. and travel southbound on N. Mulberry Street, along E Main Street, then northbound on S South Street, continuing out of the city.

Anyone driving through the area at this time should expect delays.

“We invite members of the community to line the streets along the route to pay their respects and honor Captain Angst as he makes his final journey,” the department said.
