DAYTON — Some Dayton residents can receive tax return preparations and filings for free.
Income-eligible Dayton residents can take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit and the child tax credit to boost refunds on federal tax returns, according to a news release.
Taxpayers earning up to $57,000 can qualify for free tax return prep and filing, even those not claiming EITC or CTC, according to the release.
The tax returns will be prepared and filed by IRS-trained volunteers.

What to bring with you:
- Photo ID
- All W-2 forms earned in 2021
- Social Security cards or ITIN for all individuals included in your tax returns
- Social Security number or Employer ID Number, including an address for any child care expenses in 2021. Documentation for the amount you paid to the Provider and the amount paid for each child
- Any information received from the IRS in 2021, and any 1098 and 1099 forms
- For direct deposit, bring account information for savings or checking account
- Spouses filing jointly, both parties must be present in order to process the return

EITC refunds do not count as income in determining eligibility for food stamps, SSI, Medicaid, cash assistance or public housing. The Child Tax Credit does not count as income for any federally-funded benefit program, according to the release.
