The University of Dayton Flyers' exciting trip to the Sweet 16 has not only put the team in the spotlight, but it's brought national attention to the region as well.
Having your basketball team be the Cinderella story of the NCAA tournament is great PR for the university and for the city, some residents say.
UD's vice president of enrollment and marketing, Sundar Kumarasamy, said there's no better way to spread the word about the school.
"This energizes many, many aspects of our community," said Kumarasmy. "If you talk about awareness building, interest and desire and action, this is one thing that can unite us all."
Fans who were shopping for Flyer gear on Tuesday expressed their pride in the city and the team.
"The president tweeting, and just, you know, it's a supportive thing ... everybody now knows Dayton," said Libby Balsamo of Kettering.
"Everybody's excited," said Doug Borgert of Beavercreek.
The impact of the Flyers' success has been felt across the country.
"I heard stories from Baltimore of a person who was driving, and people were cheering her because she had a Flyers sticker on the car," said Kumarasamy. "Those kind of moments, you can never buy."
