FAIRBORN — A fire that caused around $300,000 in damage to the Homewood Suites on Presidential Drive was an accident, firefighters said.

Fire crews responded to the hotel around 9:30 a.m. last Tuesday and found fire on the outside of the building had spread to the hotel.

“The fire was contained to the front building,” said Fairborn Fire Chief Dave Reichert. “The fire did not involve any of the rooms that tenants stay in.”

Reichert said the fire was a challenge with the windy conditions and difficultly accessing the attic space, where the fire had spread.

The chief also said propane helped feed the fire on the outside of the hotel.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing and there were not any injuries.
