Fire destroys barn at country club

A barn was destroyed in a fire at the Sugar Valley Country Club this morning.

Flames were reported just after 6 a.m. The smoke could be seen for miles from the club, at 1250 Mead Road.

Firefighters worked for about two hours to put out the flames and ensure the fire did not spread to any other buildings on the property.

The barn housed golf carts, and initial reports were that there may be propane tanks inside.

The structure was at least two stories tall, according to someone on the scene.

Multiple fire departments responded to truck in water, and the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office was called to investigate.

The club said it will open today as usual, and will work to replace members' golf clubs that were inside the barn.
