Fire damage forces Englewood restaurant to close for repairs

ENGLEWOOD — The TJ Chumps location in Englewood be closed Monday but is expected reopen Tuesday after a fire caused damage inside the restaurant, according to firefighters.

Crews were called to the restaurant at 559 South Main Street around 9:40 a.m. after the fire was reported.

The fire was contained to a grill in the kitchen and damage to the restaurant was estimated around $10,000, firefighters told News Center 7.

“Our Englewood location experienced a small fire in the kitchen. Luckily no one was injured, but we will be closed today, August 31st, for cleaning and getting the space back to normal,” a TJ Chumps spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

“Tomorrow we will open at our regular time at 11 a.m. and we apologize for any inconvenience,” the spokesperson said.

No other restaurants in the strip mall were damaged by the fire, investigators said.
