Fire crews battled early morning weather-related fires in Beavercreek, Xenia

Fire crews in Beavercreek and Xenia battled two separate structure fires that were caused by severe weather early Tuesday morning.

Both homes, located at 209 George Wythe Way in Beavercreek and 1832 Arapaho Dr. in Xenia, were struck by lightening, fire officials said.

At the Xenia home, lightning struck the roof, toward the back of the house, sparking a fire in the attic, fire officials. Fire crews quickly put out the fire before it could spread to the rest of the house.

No injuries were reported, but there’s smoke damage to the home, and the residents will be displaced for a few days.

In Beavercreek, lightning also struck the roof of the house and a power line, sparking the fire in the attic, fire officials said. Mutual aid was requested, and firefighters knocked the blaze down quickly.

The family was able to get out of the home safely before firefighters arrived at the scene. No injuries were reported.

The house suffered experienced heavy smoke damage, so the family will also be displaced for a few days, fire officials said.
