Facebook, Instagram dealing with outages, user issues

Facebook and Instagram are continuing to experience problems with outages and officials with the social network have issued updates via Twitter on the status of the platform.

Users have been reporting problems -- which includes outages and not being able to access Instant Messenger and other functions -- since Tuesday just before midnight.

Problems have been reported throughout the U.S. east and west coasts, as well as in Mexico, South America, the United Kingdom and southeastern Australia, according to downdetector.com's most recent updates this evening.

This newsroom has received some calls from Dayton-area residents reporting that Facebook "is down."

Facebook officials have gone to Twitter in an effort to pass along updates. One tweet reads, "We're focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack."

Another tweet reads, "We're aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We're working to resolve the issue as soon as possible."

This news organization will update this developing report as we learn more.
