Brown has also said he will work to hold insurance companies accountable, reduce prescription drug prices, and cap utility rate increases.
After the race was called, Jon Husted took the stage in Columbus and congratulated Brown on his win:
“I have hope for our future, and you should too. It’s a great country. You should have hope for the future. America is a great nation. You should love it, and you should fight for it, and the founding ideals that our rights fundamentally belong to us, not to government. And it’s on all of us to make this country a better place. Always fight for those values, loving Ohio, loving America, and loving your neighbor as yourself. More kindness to each other would make the world a better place. I think it’s important to win with humility and gratitude and lose with grace and dignity. I honor the decision of the voters, and I congratulate Sherrod Brown and all of those who won elections tonight in Ohio. I wish you great success. I love this state. No matter whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, I want you to succeed.”
This is a special Senate election to serve what’s left of Vice President Vance’s Senate term.
Ohioans elected Vance to the Senate in 2022, so Brown will have to run for re-election in 2028.
