Driver flown to hospital after crashing into creek bed in Darke County

DARKE COUNTY — An Indiana man was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton after crashing his car into a creek near Union City in Darke County Tuesday morning, according to deputies.

Emergency crews were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the 13,100 block of state Route 49 near Union City and Ansonia just before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Crews found a car had driven off the road while traveling south on state Route 49 and crashed into a creek bed. The driver, identified as Edward Ramirez, 39, of Portland Indiana, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by a CareFlight medical helicopter.

Ramirez’s condition was not released.

Potential factors in the crash were not released and additional details were not available.
