Dayton police investigate burglary, shooting on Philadelphia Street

DAYTON — A man called 911 to report a man breaking into his neighbor’s home and shooting a gun on South Philadelphia Street this morning.

“He just kicked the front door off the hinges," the 911 caller told police. “He’s out there shooting guns...they need help out here now."

The incident was reported in the first block of South Philadelphia around 9:20 a.m. and medics were called to the scene, according to initial dispatch traffic.

Emergency dispatch records do not say whether anyone was hit by the gunfire that was reported by the 911 caller, however scanner traffic indicated police had some evidence being held at Miami Valley Hospital for detectives.
