Residents will be able to participate in several activities planned for the celebration, visit with community partners at the information fair, and meet Branch staff, the release said.

Tours will be available so residents can see everything the new branch has to offer, the library said. This includes:

  • A Community Room with after-hours access and an Opportunity Space for activities and exhibits
  • Six Study Rooms and a Conference Room
  • A quiet Reading Room with a fireplace
  • Numerous public computers and WiFi
  • In-Library laptop lending

The new Burkhardt Branch is a result of the Library’s facilities project, Libraries for a Smarter Future, which stems from a $187 million bond issued passed by the Montgomery County voters in 2012 and has allowed the Dayton Library to update or renovate all of its Branches and Operations Center downtown, the release said.

Two facilities remain in the project, including Northmont’s new Branch, scheduled to open this fall and Huber Heights’ new Branch, opening tentatively next spring, according the Dayton Metro Library.
